Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Short version: we don’t collect email addresses and we don’t run ads on this site. We use Google Analytics to understand which pieces people listen to, and you control whether it runs — see “Your Privacy Choices” below.
1. What we collect on this site
SlowHum (operated by Hilly Shore Labs) does not run a newsletter and does not ask visitors to provide personal information on the Site. We don’t have user accounts, we don’t maintain a mailing list, and we don’t sell anything directly through the Site.
Our hosting provider (Vercel) collects basic aggregated analytics such as page views, referrer, rough geographic region (country / city level), device type, and browser. This information is used to understand which pages people visit; it is not tied to your identity and is not shared with third parties for advertising.
We also use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic, and we earn commissions from affiliate links (for example to Amazon and Reverb). More on both below.
2. Cookies
We do not set advertising cookies. The cookies in play are:
- Google Analytics (
_ga,_ga_XFK059EEE7) — analytics that help us see which traditions people listen to, kept up to ~13 months. Set only after you consent in regions that require prior consent (EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland, Brazil), or by default elsewhere. See “Your Privacy Choices” below. - Vercel Analytics & Speed Insights— privacy-friendly measurement that does not store cookies on your device.
- On-device storage— remembers preferences you set (including your cookie choice); stays on your device and is not sent as a tracking cookie.
- Affiliate partner cookies— when you click an outbound link, partners such as Amazon and Reverb may set cookies on theirown domains to attribute a purchase. We do not set or read these, and they are governed by those partners’ privacy policies.
3. Your Privacy Choices
We tailor consent to your location:
- EU/EEA, UK, Switzerland, Brazil: analytics is disabled by defaultand only set if you click “Accept” on our banner (we use Google Consent Mode v2).
- California and other US states with privacy laws: we show a notice and let you opt out at any time.
- Global Privacy Control (GPC): if your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically.
Review or change your choice at any time: . We do not sell or share your personal information for third-party advertising.
4. YouTube
Our pieces live on YouTube. When you follow a link from the Site to the channel, or press “Subscribe on YouTube,” you are interacting with Google’s services under Google’s own Privacy Policy, which covers any data collection that happens there. We have no special visibility into your activity on YouTube beyond the aggregate, anonymous statistics YouTube shows any channel owner (views, watch time, and similar — never tied to you as an individual).
5. Email inquiries
If you email us directly (for example at hello@slowhum.com), we store that correspondence the same way any small studio does — in a standard email inbox. We don’t add you to a list; we just reply.
6. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect any information from them.
7. Your rights
Because we don’t collect personal information through the Site, there is very little for us to delete on request. If you’ve emailed us and would like us to delete that correspondence, write to hello@slowhum.com and we will.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the project grows (for example, if we ever add a podcast feed or a donate link on the site). When we do, we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes will be noted clearly.
